Moms Of Boys

This weekend I stumbled across the most amazing blog ever! Lol… well, for me at least. I was beyond thrilled when I happened to click on a BlogHop that lead me straight to “The M.O.B Society”. As I started to read their About page and found myself answering “YES” to all of their questions, I literally busted into tears as I started to feel some sigh of relief that I wasn’t alone anymore. Oh these ingenious creators and writers, I think I may strive to write for them one day. ;)

Most of my friends have daughters, so for me this blog was a breath of fresh air because you don’t really “get it” until you have a boy of your own. This fantastic blog is not only a place especially for moms who are raising boys, but also for moms who want to (in the words of M.O.B.S) “reach the hearts of {their} boys for the Gospel and prepare a generation of men to love the Lord.”  Amen?!

SO… with that being said, I knew I had to join up and participate in their First annual Boy Mom BlogHop!

Mothers of Boys

A Bit About Me: My name is Lyryn (pronounced Leer-in) and I’m about to turn 29. (yikes!) I am happily married to the love of my life and high school sweetheart, Jesse. Our marriage has never been prefect and we have had our share of tough times, but we believe that God is going to use all that we have gone through to touch others, and we praise Him for that! I am a SAHM to two amazing little boys, Jayden and Ian and I just love what I do!
My Boys: My boys are my world and I couldn’t imagine my life without either of them. There was a reason God gave me boys first, and though I’m still trying to figure it all out I can tell you that it has been quite an amazing adventure and wouldn't trade it for the world.

Jayden, who will be four in October, is my artistic, independent, fun-loving, hysterical fire-ball of a little dude. His personality is infectious and there is never a dull moment when he’s around (just like his daddy). Ian, who just turned one in June, is my sweet, laid-back, “do things when I’m good and ready,” incredibly daring and adventurous, cuddle-bum-I-prayed-so-hard-for toddler. I tell people he will be the one that will backpack through Europe one day. Both of them are so amazingly different and unique, yet perfectly made for our family.

What I Do: Besides being a full-time mommy to these boys, I do some part-time bookkeeping (from home) for my brother’s construction business and also run a small photography business on the side WHICH never feels like work since I love photography so much. However, the thing that recently has been pulling at my heart strings is the ministry my husband and I want to do with our testimony. This past April my husband and I felt the Lord calling us to write about our testimony of how the Lord helped us through an affair and one of the toughest times in our marriage and (with the help of God's grace and mercy). He restored our marriage to something that is even better than before. Our hearts are to see marriages restored and as T.D. Jakes so eloquently states “Your{our}ministry will be where your misery has been.”

My Favvvv-rit Book: Favvvv-rit is how Jayden says "favorite". Books are big in this household. We read all day and daddy always reads a book at night. I think right now Jayden’s favorite book would be "Just for You" by Mercer Mayer. He even has the copy of the one I had when I was a kid. We read that multiple times a day! Ian doesn’t really have a favorite book, but one that I always read to him and one of my favorites is "Goodnight Moon."

There… I think I covered everything. Anyway, I’m super excited about this bloghop and also to meet other moms in the M.O.B Society. I’m so thankful that I came across this site! If any of you guys out there are like me and have all boys… head on over and check them out; they are awesome!

Have a great week ladies!

How cool is that there is a place for moms of boys. I always feel it is a little tougher to connect bc I don't come across too many people who only have boys.

And yay our birthdays are almost here!!!

So glad you found something! So..just wanted to let you know that Isabella has to read Goodnight Moon every single night after her Bible story and before we pray. It's like clock work and Lord help me if I get things out of order. Ha! Goodnight moon was my favorite as a kid too! :)

So precious...with a little girl on the way, I can't even begin to imagine how different it is to raise boys & girls!

What a wonderful network! Boys are definitely vastly different than girls-our family was split 4 and 4 growing up and I remember my mom reading all sorts of books (bringing up boys etc.). Your's are both such cuties!

I am so totally gonna check that blog out! Even at 4 months I can see how different having a boy is.

And I think I could recite Goodnight Moon by heart I read it so much :-)

Let's get together soon!

I loved this post! I've read your blog for a short while now, but this was a great intro :)

Glad you found a great resource! I don't have any boys, but I can imagine the challenge in parenting them.

Oh, and the little critter books are the BEST :)

I'm visiting from the MOB BlogHop. It was so excited to discover there was a place for moms with boys too! What a blessing it has been to meet so many new people. Your boys are so sweet I love your descriptions. I also love your photography. I definitely need some lessons in that area. Many blessings to you and all God has called you to do.
